RULE UPDATE
If you didn’t see it, and I didn’t, the P-card process has changed again. There are now NO yellow P-cards. The first instance of a minute without a touch goes directly to a Red P-card, and the second goes to Black. No more not fencing at all for the first period for epee fencers. Probably not an issue for foil and sabre fencers.
CLUB UPDATES
The standard fall schedule is totally here as far as lessons and practice. Saturday practice this week is possible, let me know if there is interest.
We are going to try something different for the October 6th class. It will be an epee only class and limited to those 30 and over. Tuesday/Thursday at 6:30 pm, 6 weeks, standard $60 fee, and USA Fencing membership still required. Let me know if you are interested or have questions.
Standard foil beginner class starting November 2nd at 6:30 pm. Probably a new afterschool class starting late October/early November. Probably not a new homeschool class until January.
Dates that classes may not meet are coming up. St Mary has a Falcon Fright Night and our space becomes a Haunted House. The 8th grade (actually 8th grade parents) put this together and it takes a couple of days. We will take down our overheads and scoring machines on Tuesday, October 20. Homeschool will meet on Wednesday, October 21, but all afterschool and evening classes for the rest of that week will be cancelled. The Monday/Wednesday evening class will finish up on Monday, October 26. However, that is a Teacher work day for St. Mary, so no afterschool on that day. Monday, November 9 is listed as a Remote Learning Day, so possibly no afterschool then either. Wednesday, November 11 is Veteran’s Day, no afterschool at St. Mary and we will need to see what the homeschoolers and Wednesday evening classes wish to do. Thanksgiving Break is Wednesday – Friday, November 25-27. No afterschool either of those days, no evening practice on Thursday. Again, we will need to see what the homeschool and Wednesday evening classes wish to do.
I don’t see anyone registered for the November NAC. Therefore, we may be able to do a 12 and under foil and epee event on November 21. Let me know if that works. If so, I will start getting more information out.
INFORMATION ON UPCOMING EVENTS
Our first event will be on October 24th and will include Open Foil, Open Epee, and a Div III (D and under) Foil event. It is now up on askfred, and has caps of 28 fencers, so start getting signed up. Very few of our foilists are currently entered. There are only ten people in the foil events, but the epee is filled and has a waitlist. A number of other clubs’ events (both sanctioned and unsanctioned) are starting to appear on askfred.
Registration deadlines are approaching for number of events. I have listed most of the below.
