We are cancelling the Almost April Fools event. Unfortunately that weekend is also the weekend for the Cherry Blossom, a huge annual event in the DC area. That is giving us a problem finding referees for the event. When you try to choose dates, you don’t know what other major events will be in the area. Sorry we have had to move so many things this year.
On the other hand this is why we need more of our fencers to become referees. You do have to upgrade to the professional from the competitive membership. That involves a background check and going through Safe Sport Training. However, you will make the upgrade back the first time you get hired as a referee. It does mean that you have to learn the rules and practice refereeing, especially in the right of way weapons.
