USA Fencing Sanctioned Tournaments hosted by Cape Fear Fencing Association

Cape Fear Fencing Association hosts multiple sanctioned tournaments each season. All events require a USA Fencing membership that needs to be available upon request at check-in. Events are held in the basement of Tileston Gym in downtown Wilmington unless otherwise noted. Spectators are always free and are encouraged to support fencers or see what fencing is all about.

CFFA currently charges the following for events: Fencers who are preregistered at least one week in advance are charged $30 for their first event and an additional $20 for each subsequent event. Anyone registering after the preregistration deadline has ended will be charged $50 for the first event and $30 for each subsequent event.

Local Youth Tournaments

As part of the youth programs sponsored by the club, CFFA also hosts multiple club-only youth events for fencers age 12 and under in all three weapons. These events are only open to students in our youth programs and are not open to outside clubs.

Awards are given to the top four fencers (first, second and tied third place finishers). In addition, medals are awarded to the top three age 9 and under fencers who did not place. Points are awarded throughout the season based on results for each event. End of season awards are given to the top boy and girl fencers, as well as a best sportsmanship award which is chosen based on voting from participating fencers throughout the season.

These tournaments are a great way for our young beginning fencers to learn about tournaments in a low-stress environment. Cost for each event is $5.

Check the calendar for upcoming events. Our local youth tournaments are also announced during classes prior to the events.

NCHSFL and NCHEAC Team Tournaments

Cape Fear Fencing Association supports multiple teams of public, private and homeschool students. These teams compete in either the NCHSFL or NCHEAC leagues. The tournament schedules can be found on the NCHSFL’s Schedule page  and the NCHEAC’s Fencing page.
