The coaching class will continue Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Regular Tuesday/Thursday practice this week. I will be at a division executive board meeting in Charlotte Saturday, so if anyone wants to step forward and open for fencing on Saturday, let everyone know.
Fencing will continue at the Midway Park Commmunity Center at Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville. I believe the front gate situation is worked out. The Community Center is supposed to be calling to alert them that fencing will be happening. If you get there and have a problem, the Community Center phone number is (910) 451-1807. They should be able to speak with the front gate and get you in.
Had an excellent camp last week as almost a dozen of our young foil fencers participated. You will be able to see if there were good results when you start fencing them this week.
Monday starts our full day advanced epee/sabre camp. We finish with a full day beginner camp running from the 10th to the 14th.
The annual Division meeting is at Mid-South on the 15th. We need to start thinking about car pooling to get there.
The next Wilmington classes will start up on Tuesday, August 18th. Beginners at 6:30 pm and intermediates at 7:30 pm. I haven't gotten much feedback on the idea of a specific 8-10/11 year old class. Please weigh in on your thoughts regrading such a class, and whether making it part of the afterschool program, a 5:00 - 6:15 pm time slot or an early evening (6:30 -7:30 pm) time works best.
Good luck to Oliver Galbraith who is competing in the Georgia games today.
The All-American Fencing Academy is looking for referees for their September 12th event. I will give you Gerhard's contact info if you are interested.
Pax vobiscum,
